PNC Mortgage National City refers to the merger of two leading banks in the US, the PNC Financial Services and the National City Mortgage. It was not a merger indeed but the acquisition of the latter by the former for about $5.2 billion in the year 2009. As a result of this transaction, a name change occurred and the National City Mortgage became PNC Mortgage.
